COURAGE

So many have come to know that Bari Weiss, reporter, insightful social commentator and proud American Jew, is and has always been an unabashed courageous spokesperson for her generation and ours. Her colleagues and friends know her as "fearless" and "brilliant."

She has resigned from the New York Times, her resignation letter both a cri de coeur and an indictment of the Times. Read it and weep:

We certainly have not heard the last of Bari Weiss. May she go from strength-to-strength to a far better place.

From the days they tried to bury the story of the Holocaust to the last 70 years or unabashed hatred for Israel, to its institutional antisemitism, it is time for all of us to cancel our subscriptions. It is no longer a viable conveyer of unbiased news.

I did so as soon as I saw her letter.

I don't really care for much of what BW writes about, but I read it.

The NYT has no shortage of folks who write for them with centrist or right of center views (Brooks, Friedman, Douthat, Stephens). BW's complaint has zero merit.

Would that other more conservative publications have a similar collection of centrist or left of center columnists. I have a subscription for the WSJ and every single one of their editorials and columnists is divorced from actual reality.

Not so fast…

Rabbi Haskel Lookstein’s first call for Jews to move away from the NY Times came 26 years ago. I believe that I was one of the few followed his plea. We Jews are a strange People who seem not to believe what is so obvious.

I’m not so sure that Ms. Weiss deserves all the kudos she is getting for her decision to leave the Times.

Why would a Jew - ANY Jew - work for the enemy? The NY Times, without question, is an enemy of the Jewish People. The NY Times, without question, is an enemy of the State of Israel. Her letter of resignation proves this. So why would Weiss (and B.Stephens for that matter) work for it.

Reminder - it was Weiss who opposed the Israeli government when it tried to block entrance of a pro-BDS student into the country.

While others are quick to commend her, not me. Sorry to say, but I don't respect her, I don't trust her!

They are the enemy of Israel and the Jewish People!

Apparently only extreme right wing political views are considered to be kosher on this board.

Genug.

Not pertinent to the subject of the OP, at any rate.

I will not. be. printing firther Anonymous Comments to this Post which are redundant attacks opn the NYT -- I think I understand your anger with that paper. To Anonymous 7/16 6:29 p.m.: you know neither the broad range of philosophies or political alignment of those who read this Blog nor my own. Genug, indeed.

Further, long ago I have written that I will not tolerate personal attacks on those who offer their Comments. That remains true.
