COULD IT BE?

Yes, I think a new day may be dawning at JFNA under the Wilf-Fingerhut administration. Change is in the air...kal ha'kavod.

What took so damn long?

I'm talking about the organization's long-overdue quest for relevance -- well for the last decade, JFNA really didn't even "quest," it just sat there...in silence.

Now, in just weeks of Eric Fingerhut going live as JFNA's new CEO, the organization issued press releases on two subjects that for a decade JFNA would have chosen silence: the most recent a response to the Israeli Government's decision to bar entry to two Congresspersons; the first on our shared pains with the communities impacted by domestic terrorists' atrocities.

For those who don't recall (and who would), for a decade I have urged a succession of JFNA leaders to speak out on our collective behalf. I am so grateful that that is happening now.

For JFNA to be relevant, it must speak for the federations. I admit it's not easy in a consensus-driven organization, but perhaps Eric has figured it out -- and quickly.

Now, may JFNA achieve a few successes driving the system forward.

It would be nice to know the jest of the two press releases.

In terms of... response to the Israeli Government's decision to bar entry to two Congresspersons.. Richard, you should have written Anti-Israel, Anti-Semitic, pro-BDS Congresspersons. I certainly hope that the JFNA supports that decision. I would also hope that none of the JFNA lay or professional leadership would allow people who support actions that would destroy their families into their own homes. Why should the Israeli government be any different? The Israeli government, following Israeli law, certainly did the right thing by keeping those Anti-Israel Anti-Semitic pro-BDS Congresspeople out.

Please do not miss my point.

I'm afraid you are grasping for straws.
It is going to take a lot more than a few press releases to overcome the Machiavelian organizational culture and lack of purpose or mission of this organization.
JFNA's days are numbered. It is only a matter of time until the federations act on what they are already aware of - that their dues are being wasted and that their continued support does more damage than good.
The press release that we really need is one announcing radical downsizing and perhaps even voluntary dissolution.

To Anon 7:41, as I've stated recently, give Eric Fingerhut his 6 months on his terms to get a sense of what JFNA is really about.
Wouldn't you give the new CEO of your federation or agency the same opportunity to discover the skeletons for him/her self?
