I have a number (thankfully a small number) of friends and correspondents who somehow, against all...all...facts, continue to believe that Joe Biden is not the President-Elect of the United States. They mass mail out the inane blathering of, e.g., Caroline Glick and Victor David Hanson, who suggest, if not state directly, that those Jews who have failed to support Donald Trump's election, have turned their backs on Israel, some going so far as to argue that the election was stolen from their chosen Demi-God the rulings of over 60 courts across the swing states notwithstanding.
Now, JTA has published a report that 2 Jewish Wisconsin judges denounced a Trump lawsuit. Now anti-Semites are harassing them. These two judges, Jill Kanofsky and Rebecca Dallet, "are concerned for their safety" because of the ugly threats they have received since their vote to dismiss another frivolous lawsuit challenging the Presidential election results in Wisconsin. I and many of you are waiting to learn of, e.g., the Republican Jewish Coalition's public rejection of these anti-semitic acts; and I am also waiting for any of my pro-Trump correspondents to transmit the JTA story -- they can link to it here --https://www.jta.org/2020/12/17/politics/2-jewish-wisconsin-judges-denounced-a-trump-lawsuit-now-anti-semites-are-harassing-them -- to their list-serve.
I am not holding my breath.

I feel that you are like Don Quixote at times, tilting at windmills that you have no chance of righting, whether it be Jerry Silverman, ineptitude at JFNA or never-Bidener’s.
Why not deal with something closer at hand that you could influence. Even a casual reading of articles such as those at the links below will demonstrate that Raphael Warnock is too far over the line for any lover of Israel, regardless of their partisan stripes.
There is still a chance to keep a lover of anti-semites and enemy of Israel out of Congress. We don’t need this sort of hate to penetrate the US Senate, even it it means a Democratic majority. Coming form a family of survivors, better ever cautious and vigilant than every sorry later.

ReplyDeleteRichard - I have e-blasted this to my list and posted it on FB. It is SICK! Just as sick as some of the hatred for President Trump.
ReplyDeleteOK, I GET IT... Joe Biden will be our next President (we all need to pray that he stays healthy so that JStreet friend K.Harris does not become President).
OK, I GET IT… President Trump ‘lost’ the election. I can’t ‘prove’ there was fraud (of course there was) but I do know that our election process was ‘Third World Nation.’ An embarrassment to say the least!
I also know that Joe Biden has done nothing to improve anything in his 47-year political career.
But what has President Trump done in the past 4 years? (h/t:BCC)
The "arrogant" in the White House brokered Middle East Peace Accords, something that 71 years of political intervention and endless war failed to produce.
The "buffoon" in the White House is the first president that has not engaged us in a foreign war since Eisenhower.
The "racist" in the White House has had the greatest impact on the pre-COVID economy, bringing jobs, and lowering unemployment to the Black and Latino population of ANY other president. Ever.
The "liar" in the White House has exposed the deep, widespread, and long-standing corruption in the FBI, the CIA, the NSA, and the Republican and Democratic parties.
The "buffoon" in the White House turned NATO around and had them start paying their dues.
The "fool" in the White House neutralized the North Koreans and stopped them sending missiles toward Japan, and threatening the West Coast of the US.
The "xenophobe" in the White House turned our relationship with the Chinese around, brought hundreds of business back to the US, and revived the economy. Hello?????
The "clown" in the White House has accomplished the appointing of three Supreme Court Justices and close to 300 Federal Judges.
This same clown lowered your taxes, increased the standard deduction on your IRS return from $12,500 to $24,400 for married couples and caused the stock market to rise to record levels, positively impacting the retirement accounts of tens of millions of citizens.
The clown in the White House fast-tracked the development of a COVID Vaccine which will be available soon. And yet we still don't have a vaccine for SARS, Bird Flu, Ebola, or a host of diseases that arose during previous administrations.
The clown in the White House rebuilt our military which the Obama administration crippled and fired 214 key generals and admirals in his first year of office.
OK, I GET IT… you don't like him. Many of you utterly hate and despise him.
OK, I GET IT... President Trump has made mistakes and his style is abrasive, but I’ll take the ‘clown’ any day versus Joe Biden. I want a strong leader who isn’t afraid to kick some ass when needed. I don’t need a fatherly figure. That's who Hollywood, CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC, CBS and the New York Slimes are for.
Call me a racist, or part of the basket of deplorables. I do not care!
Reading the Jeser Comment was like reading a Trump Tweet, so filled was it with misrepresentations, fraudulent arguments and, unrelated to Trump, completely missing your point. Specifics: Vice-Presdient Elect: Kamala Harris needs no defense for her stance on Israel --https://www.timesofisrael.com/radical-left-try-again-on-israel-vp-elect-harris-may-be-to-right-of-biden/ --COVID? 317,000 deaths and 17,700,000 cases for which Trump takes no responsibility nor any leadership; (and the danger of which he suppressed -- and continues to); and, a few days ago, he discussed a coup in the WH with, among others, a convicted felon and a group of co-conspirators; and on and on. Thanks. for. asdmitting "Trump has made some mistakes." You betcha.
ReplyDeleteJesser is an outspoken advocate of the school "Trump is good for Israel" and therefore nothing else matters.
ReplyDeleteReading the first few of these comments is indeed an ugly exercise.
ReplyDeleteAs for the current occupant of the White House--ymach schmo l'olam.
If only he were just merely a schmo.
As for the Trump cult--they make the Know Nothings look like Einstein. And they show a total blindness to the dangers of demagoguery and fascism....the Jewish people have suffered far, far too much from this. And it's staring them right in the face.
Dear Mr. Jesser,

“OK, I GET IT… President Trump ‘lost’ the election. I can’t ‘prove’ there was fraud (of course there was) but I do know that our election process was ‘Third World Nation.’ An embarrassment to say the least!“
If you can’t prove it, how do you know “of course there was”? How long have you suffered these paranormal visions? Are you considering drug therapy or inpatient options?
If a non-Jew used the term “New York Slimes” I would have labeled them a clear anti-Semite using antiemetic tropes. In your case I will simply refer you back for treatment of your potential schizophrenia?
Really?
Doctor Wexler, must your blog give voice to irrational outbursts?
It'd be nice if those commenting anonymously would would have the derech ertz to use their names. Other wise they are the real schmos.
ReplyDeleteI hasten to add to my earlier post that the much-hated President took us out of the disastrous (to the world, not just Israel) Iran deal.
On a political level, I doubt if there is an issue on which Paul Jesser and I agree. We are, politically the mirror image of each other. IMHO, his political views deserve a no holds barred tough and thoughtful response.
ReplyDeleteAt the same time, in his decades of dedicated professional service, he was one of those guys who understood that politics stopped at the communal boardroom door. In that sense, Paul is a model of cooperation and inclusion and we should all be proud to call him a colleague.
Thanks, Bob, for an appropriate end to te personal attacks in response to this Post. With respect for all of you, it's time to move on. I. will not accept any further Comments to this Post attacking a reader/correspondent.
